After some rather challenging years for Indian MBA graduates, an improving economy and government initiatives such as Digital India were driving renewed demand for MBAs.
According to the Indian newspaper IIMs in Kashipur, Trichy, Udaipur, Rohtak and Shillong reported that offers in consulting matched those from traditional areas like financial services, technology and consumer goods. Some business schools experienced more than a two-fold increase in offers from consultancies. Some of these employers upped their intake of MBAs this year by up to 50 per cent offering as much as 30 per cent higher salaries than last year for entry-level positions.
